A Tale of Two Businesses
Bloomberg Government is two separate business units living under the umbrella of one web site.
The company focuses on the needs of Government Affairs and Government Contracting professionals.
A single platform for supporting two unqiue professional groups Government Affairs and Federal Contractors.

Enhancing the Search Experience
The original launch of BGOV leveraged advance search forms for searching government data.
Users were required to build complex queries on one page and see the results on a completely separate page.
Through usability testing and rapid iterations with stakeholders we were able to introduce a more succinct search experience.
UX Governance
Led the creation of UX standards across the site. This was a joint effort with R&D and UX team members which led to a greater adoption across the organization.
Created a component library for teams to have a common language to leverage when developing features.

Lean UX
An opportunity presented itself to introduce Design Thinking and Lean UX techniques into the organization’s agile process.
The Design Lead and I began an education campaign. We shared our philosophies with department heads, scrum teams, sales leads, and anybody who passed by with an interest.
In addition to pitching the process we also needed to train the designers in this methodology so they could take ownership of it with their scrum teams.
Design Studio
Facilitated creative brainstorming workshops with internal stakeholders to generate ideas, as well as get the team working together in a collaborative fashion.
Using Lean Methods the team was able to achieve group buy in and prototype ideas together.
Prototypes were tested with clients for additional feedback and assisted in defining MVPs.

Evolution of the Platform
The application evolved from a data centric research tool to a personalized workflow tool which allows users to collaborate.

By allowing the users to personalize the interface and collaborate with each other Bloomberg Government is now able to sell multi-seat deals into organizations..
