Business Challenge
How might we centralize complex policy data around key entities—people, places, or legislation—to help users track what matters most without getting lost in the noise?
Users needed a smarter way to monitor high-priority items like active bills, while also accessing all related context—hearings, sponsors, vote history, and more—in one place.
The challenge was to simplify this complexity into an experience that supports fast, informed decision-making.
Our Approach
We interviewed users and found that we could connect several data type we already collect and make it easer for a user to access and make better decisions.
Solution
Create an information age follow feature for professionals. Leveraging BGOV’s data sets we can connect the dots for user by connecting the information they need to make decisions.
01 Public Companies
As a lobbyist I need to keep up to date on anything coming out of Regulatory, Agencies, or the news that could affect my clients
02 Members of Congress
When it comes to influencing congress a lobbyist needs to know what Legislation they’ve supporting or not supporting. What are they saying in the news. What their staff is up to etc…

03 Active Bills
Bills are complicated documents with signers, co-signers etc… keeping up with committees, document members authors and the news is alot of work. Now a good portion of your research is available for a few clicks of a button.
Outcomes
For professionals working to influence policy and navigate the legislative process, time and clarity are everything. Securing favorable outcomes in Congress is complex, often requiring large teams and constant monitoring.
The redesigned Follow 2.0 feature transformed this effort—centralizing critical insights and real-time updates in one intuitive interface. This feature became a force multiplier for users in Government Affairs and Federal Contracting, enabling them to act faster, stay informed, and drive smarter decisions with fewer resources.
